Panarts Information - Text Version

About Panarts

Since 1992 Panarts has developed a variety of innovative diversity programmes and events using different art forms. Over the years Panarts has worked closely with local musicians and artists, community groups, schools, minority ethnic groups, colleges and public bodies in every council area in Northern Ireland.

Continental Airlines Belfast Nashville Songwriters’ Festival the art of song writing
In 2001, Panarts piloted the first Belfast Nashville Songwriters’ Festival, to celebrate the art of song writing and discover more about the links between our musical heritage and the traditional roots of American song writing. In 2005 six professional Nashville artists travelled to Belfast to perform with 6 local artists in concert and at workshops schools and community centres.

The following year we brought some of Nashville’s most celebrated song writing talent across to Belfast for the 2nd annual festival hosting 40 professional writers.

Grammy Award winning artists such as Gary Nicholson, Tia Sillers and Mark Selby shared their skills with budding local songwriters and visitors from abroad.

Local communities also shared in this unique cultural exchange programme between Sister Cities Belfast and Nashville.

“A truly brilliant festival. We are in love with Northern Ireland - the people, the country… the
pubs. We met some of the friendliest, warmest folks on the planet”

Grammy Award songwriter Mark Selby, Nashville. www.markselby.com

“We had the time of our lives over there in Belfast”
Nashville hit writer Dave Gibson www.davegibson.com
